Laser Surgery
Pioneer Animal Hospital offers laser surgery as a progressive new option for our clients who want the safest and least painful treatment for their pets.
Laser surgery has been widely accepted as a higher standard of care in human medicine for over 30 years. It presents a host of benefits over traditional surgery, and in many procedures, the laser can and does replace the scalpel entirely.
What are the benefits of laser surgery?
- Less Pain: The laser seals nerve endings as it "cuts." As a result, your pet will experience less pain and be more comfortable after surgery.
- Less Bleeding: The Laser seals small blood vessels during surgery. Because there is less bleeding, surgery is often completed more quickly, reducing the amount of time you pet will be under anesthesia. This further reduced potential complications.
- Reduced Swelling & Infection: Physical contact between the laser and the surgical region is never established, thus eliminating the crushing, tearing and bruising of tissue associated with traditional surgical methods. Additionally, the CO2 laser energy acts as an antimicrobial/antibacterial agent by producing high temperatures, effectively eliminating microorganisms.
- Quick return to normal activities: Healing is rapid and there is less post-operative discomfort and a better course of healing.
Pioneer Animal Hospital uses the CO2 laser for nearly all of our surgical procedures. Call today for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Hospitalization Information
|
Pioneer Animal Hospital has the ability to hospitalize those pets that require in-house treatment and monitoring. Our trained veterinary technicians are competent in IV catheter placement and routine patient monitoring. IV fluid pumps will provide accurate fluid administration on an on-going basis. For our distressed or respiratory compromised patents, our ICU features an oxygen cage with the ability to administer some medications via nebulizer.
*Please note due to time and staffing constraints we are unable to provide 24-hour care. If your pet’s condition requires intense 24-hour monitoring we recommend transfer to Mission MedVet or the Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center.
